One of the great musical icons of our time: Prince. From the end of the 1970s until his premature demise in 2016, the Minneapolis-born artist has left a lasting mark on the music world. Funk, soul, R&B, rock and pop: Prince left behind plenty of great songs – world hits and lesser-known works.

Vince Mendoza and the WDR Big Band now present an excerpt from the music icon’s vast catalog – a unique project with a star-studded line-up of Price alumni. On the menu: hits like “Purple Rain”, “Nothing Compares 2 U” or songs like “The Everlasting Now” or “1999”.

Er war einer der ganz Großen der Musik: Prince. Seit Ende der 1970er Jahre bis zu seinem viel zu frühen Tod 2016 beeinflusste der aus Minneapolis stammende Künstler die Musikwelt nachhaltig. Funk, Soul, R&B, Rock und Pop: Prince hinterließ jede Menge großartiger Songs – Welthits und weniger bekannte Werke.

Vince Mendoza und die WDR Big Band präsentieren nun einen Ausschnitt aus dem vielfältigen Schaffen der Musikikone – ein einmaliges Projekt mit Starbesetzung. Unter anderem kommen Hits wie “Purple Rain”, “Nothing Compares 2 U” oder Songs wie “The Everlasting Now” oder “1999” zu Gehör. Als Gastsolisten wirken bei “The Prince Experience” ehemalige Mitglieder seiner Bands und frühe Weggefährten mit.
