A 26 anni Andrea Motis, cantante, trombettista e sassofonista spagnola, è già una diva del jazz e alcuni importanti critici musicali l’hanno paragonata a Chet Baker e a Billie Holiday e Norah Jones per il suo modo di cantare.
Ha studiato per dieci anni nella Scuola Municipale di Musica Sant Andreu di Barcellona, la sua città, dove, a soli dodici anni, ha iniziato a collaborare con la Sant Andreu Jazz Band, guidata dall’insegnante e musicista Joan Chamorro, che l’ha scoperta e che lei definisce “il mio papà artistico”; a quindici anni, registra il suo primo album di standard jazz, “Joan Chamorro Presents Andrea Motis”. Nel 2012, ne registra un secondo, Feeling Good, che la porta ad una continua crescita di popolarità.
Il suo debutto mondiale avviene nel 2017 quando esce l’album “Emotional Dance”, pubblicato dalla Impulse!Record, ovvero quella che fu l’etichetta di Mingus e Coltrane, seguito nel da “Do outro lado do azul” (Verve).
Nel corso della sua carriera Andrea ha collaborato con artisti rinomati come Quincy Jones, Omara Portuondo, Milton Nascimento, WDR Big Band, Gil Goldstein e Scott Hamilton, per citarne alcuni, e si è esibita sui palchi di tutto il mondo.
Andrea canta in inglese, in catalano, in spagnolo e in portoghese e attualmente sta lavorando al suo prossimo album da solista, la cui uscita è prevista per il 2022.

At the age of 26, Spanish singer, trumpeter and saxophonist Andrea Motis is already a jazz diva, and some leading music critics have compared her to Chet Baker and to Billie Holiday and Norah Jones for her way to sing.
She studied for ten years at Sant Andreu Municipal School of Music in Barcelona, her hometown, where, at the age of twelve, she began to perform with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, led by teacher and musician Joan Chamorro, who discovered her and whom she calls “my artistic dad”; at fifteen, she recorded her first album of jazz standards, “Joan Chamorro Presents Andrea Motis”. In 2012, she recorded a second one, “Feeling Good”, which led to a continuous growth in popularity.
Her world debut came in 2017 with the release of the album “Emotional Dance”, on the former Mingus and Coltrane label Impulse!Record, followed by “Do outro lado do azul” (Verve).
Throughout her career Andrea has collaborated with renowned artists such as Quincy Jones, Omara Portuondo, Milton Nascimento, WDR Big Band, Gil Goldstein and Scott Hamilton, to name a few, and has performed on stages all over the world.
Andrea sings in English, Catalan, Spanish and Portuguese and is currently working on her next solo album, due for release in 2022.
